Papon & the East India Company concert in Belgrade
Papon & the East India Company will perform in Belgrade on November 3, 2014 at 20:00 in Dom Omladine, Big Hall, Makedonska 22.
Papon (Angaraag Mahanta) – a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and singer has become one of the most recognizable-and-sought-after voices in India. While rooted in folk, Papon has a wide variety of influences and considered to be an extremely versatile artist. His initial training has been in Indian classical and traditional music (devotional and folk) from Assam. His innovative experiments are rich with ambient electronica, acoustic folk, electroghazals to new-age Ind-classical sounds.
Papon’s popularity and legend grew after his appearances on all three seasons of Coke Studio India. Papon left an indelible impression on music fans as a composer in Season 2 and 3. Papon sang for highly acclaimed British Asian music composer Nitin Sawhney and received rave reviews for his performance.
Papon and his folk-fusion band the East India Company, performed at all the music festivals in India. Papon & The EIC also performed at the du WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL in Dubai in April 2013. The festival saw performances from Italian singer-song writer/ multi instrumentalist classical soloist Andrea Bocelli, Nine times GRAMMY Winner Natalia Cole, Australian Jazz Fusion Guitarist Frank Gambale, famous American rock band Guns & Roses and also Indian bands as Raghu Dixit, Soul Mate many more.
The year 2014 was kick started with 3 performances at the prestigious Celtic Connections, Glasgow, Scotland.
59th International Belgrade Book Fair, October 26 – November 2, 2014
Embassy of India will participate at the 59th International Belgrade Book Fair, as part of the campaign “Incredible India” of the Tourist Organization of India, Frankfurt. The stall of the Embassy of India will be installed in the Hall 2A. There will be promoted campaign “Incredible India”, exhibition of the digital reproductions of Rabindranath Tagore art pieces, books about India and Indian products, as well as audio-visual presentation about India, Indian literature etc. During the Book Fair, Embassy of India will organize round tables and workshops for professionals, journalists and interested audience. Marking the 145th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi birth (born 1869 – died 1948)
On October 2 at 10:00, Embassy of India organized the garlanding of the bust of Mahatma Gandhi in the street that caries his name, at the Sava quay, Block 70.
On October 2, 2014, the 145th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi birth has been marked in Belgrade. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948), known as Mahatma (The Great Soul) succeeded in promotion of the philosophy of nonviolent resistance and solving the social conflicts in the 20th century that was filled with violence, which represents extraordinary practice in social protests and which later served as inspiration to many other movements and individuals in the world.
Gandhi’s birthday, October 2, has been announced as the International Day of Nonviolence by the General Assembly of the United Nations, on June 15, 2007, because of the general importance of nonviolence, with the idea to support “culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and nonviolence”.
The same year (June 2007), Gandhi’s memorial bust got it’s place in New Belgrade, in the street that caries Gandhi’s name, as the present of the Government of India to the people of Serbia.
The Yoga Instructors Training – Yoga Federation of Serbia, September 30, 2014
The Yoga Federation of Serbia calls for admission to the Yoga Instructors Training. The program of professional education of yoga instructors has been approved by the concerned Ministry of the Republic of Serbia and European Commission for Accreditation.
Education which lasts for 240 classes will be led by the mentorship of Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD, International Yoga Master. Education takes 8 months. For candidates from other towns and countries, there has been prepared program of adapted lectures.

Program included yoga meditation, relaxation and joyous friendly time spent at the beaches of Greece. Seaside ambience: long beaches, clear sea, bays, Mediterranean vegetation and views will contribute to unforgettable vacation with yoga practice. The whole day yoga program wass conducted by the internationally recognized yoga masters. Warm sea, sound of the waves, dusks and dawns, yoga meditation at the moonlight will give the special charm to this vacation. In the meditative walks at the cost we will notice our potentials for development. Magic of the seaside ambience, “the waves that come and softly splash over the cost” with yoga techniques will make deep meditation and contemplation more joyful.

The concert has been intended to the participants and visitors of the Fifth International Yoga Festival – Serbia 2014, certified instructor of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, students of the International Yoga Academy and all lovers of yoga.
The Fifth International Yoga Festival – Serbia 2014
The branch Yoga Federation of Serbia, International Yoga Academy and International Society for Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Research organized the Fifth International Yoga Festival in Belgrade, under the auspices of the European Yoga Federation and with support of the Embassy of India and Indian Cultural Center. The Fifth International Yoga Festival has been opened by Prof. Predrag Nikic, Phd and Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of India to Serbia. The Fifth International Yoga Festival took place on September 6-7, 2014 at Belgrade Ada, at 16:30. Yoga Masters and yoga instructors from the whole world participated at the International Yoga Festival and presented different styles and approaches to yoga practice. The entrance was free for all citizens.

The Great Yoga Picnic to Avala
On Sunday, August 10, 2014, Yoga Federation of Serbia and International Yoga Academy organized the daily yoga picnic for the yoga fans, yoga instructors and students of the Yoga Academy. Yoga picnic has been organized in the beautiful natural green oasis of Avala. The GREAT PUBLIC YOGA CLASS has been led by the certified instructor of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, Igor Petrovic, along with demonstration of the students of Yoga Academy: Milena Reljic, Olivera Ivanovic and Gordana Stojanovic. Yoga picnic also included meditative yoga walks along with singing kirtans. Dear yoga instructors form Pozarevas, Mladenovac, Svilajnac and Novi Sad joined the picnic. The picnic has been led by the certified yoga instructor of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, Igor Petrovic.

International Yoga Camp – Atman 2014
During the period of July 6 to July 13, 2014, there was held the International Yoga Camp – Atman 2014 at the mountain Kopaonik, for the yoga lovers. Yoga camps has been organized and conducted by the Yoga Federation of Serbia and under the auspices of the European Yoga Federation. Yoga practitioners from Serbia and other European countries conducted intensive yoga practice in the beautiful ambience of Kopaonik.

Concert of the Kirtan Group Samadhi from Belgrade has been conducted as part of the great European yoga cultural performance YOGA DAYS OF GOOD DEEDS in Novi Sad, on June 29, 2014. The concert took place in the Synagogue at 19:30. After the concert, members of the Art Yoga Similiris showed why art yoga is the most popular style of yoga in the world at the moment.

Yogis from Europe gathered in Novi Sad, on June 9, 2014 at 18:00 and performed a short Sun Salutation series. The Art Yoga Similiris – revue team of the Yoga Federation of Serbia performed presently the most popular yoga style. At the end of performance, the citizens held their hands and made a big heart for Serbia. There has been organized concert of the Kirtan Group Samadhi for the participants of performance, in the Synagogue at 19:30. Representative of the Yoga Federation of Serbia who led the manifestation in Novi Sad was Mirjana Radak, certified yoga instructor and members of the Yoga Center Mirjana. As part of this manifestation there have been organized YOGA DAYS OF VOJVODINA by Yoga Center Mirjana , for the first time in Vojvodina. Wonderful children from the Yoga Center Mirjana performed Sun Salutation for the first time at the Great European Yoga Performance, standing in the form of Sun. We are grateful to their parents and educator Natasa Galecic who performed with children. The Great Yoga Performance in Novi Sad has been visited by H.E., Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassdor of India to Serbia.

Under the auspices of the European Yoga Federation, the branch Yoga Federation of Serbia conducts the action YOGA DAYS OF GOOD DEEDS for the sixth year where it invites citizens to do a good deed with message that a GOOD DEED IS THE GREATEST REWARD TO THOSE WHO DO IT.
The central manifestation took place in Belgrade, at the Republic Square (plateau in front of the Knez Mihailo monument) on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 12h. Yogis from different countries performed THE SUN SALUTATION and after that members of the ART YOGA SIMILIRIS – revue team of the Yoga Federation of Serbia performed and showed why art yoga is the most poopular yoga style in the world at the moment. The performance ended with 300 yogis making a big heart for Serbia at the Republic Square. The concert of the KIRTAN GROUP SAMADHI was prepared for participants of the performance in the big hall of Dom omladine at 14:00. Refreshments were prepared by the sponsor company NEKTAR who provided juice for all participants. Manifestation in the center of Belrgade gathered yoga practitioners from 42 towns in Serbia and many European countries.

The performance is part of the wider action which includes Vienna, Prague, Belgrade and Novi Sad this year and it takes place at the central squares of the European capitals.
The performance consisted of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) series that yoga teachers and practitioners conducted along with the silent music and play of the members of Art Yoga Similiris group.
Representatives of the Czech Yoga Federation, Austrian Yoga Federation, Yoga Federation of Serbia and Yoga Federation of Montenegro participated in the performance.

On May 26, 2014 in the hall of Kolarac Foundation, there was held performance of the Indian Katak dance group. Members of the group Katak have also been guests of the Indian Cultural Center and Yoga Federation of Serbia. Members of the group Katak from India and members of the Art Yoga Similiris – revue team of the Yoga Federation of Serbia from Belgrade spent nice afternoon socializing and exchanging dance experiences in the hall of International Yoga Academy in New Belgrade. The leader of the Katak group, Rujuta Soman Amog gave interview to the journalist of Yoga TV.

On May 12, 2014 there was held celebration of the 20th anniversary of the foundation of Yoga Federation of Serbia by Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD. Lecture “Time Universality of the Teaching of Jidu Krishnamurti”, May 11, 2014
The Indian Cultural Center and Yoga Federation of Serbia organized the lecture “Time Universality of the Teaching of Jidu Krishnamurti” on May 11, 2014. The lecture was given by Gordana Miric-Trifunac and Aleksandar Nikolic, certified yoga instructors of the Yoga Federation of Serbia.
Seminar Yoga for Children
The first generation of yoga instructors was successfully trained in the field of Yoga for Children. It has been organized for the first time in the Yoga Federation of Serbia under the professional guidance of certified yoga instructor Marijana Rodic. The seminar took place in the period of March 23 – April 6, 2014.

On March 27, 2014 there was printed the book Yoga – Mind and Body (Tradition and Practices in the 21st century) by the author Prof. Dusan Pajin, PhD published by the International Yoga Academy where Prof. Pajin teaches Yoga Philosophy for years.

Intensive of yoga practice as the form of continual education for yoga instructors has been conducted on March 9, 2014 in the Yoga Federation of Serbia, under the professional guidance of Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD (www.yoga-tv.org).
Seminar Yoga in Corporations (Corporative Yoga)
Seminar of additional education for yoga instructors started on February 9, 2014 in the Yoga Federation of Serbia. There was trained the first generation of yoga instructors in the field of corporative yoga (30 hours). The additional professional education was led by Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD. Yoga instructors were trained in teaching yoga to the managers and employees in organizations. The program of additional education is conducted with support of the Yoga Federation of Europe that proclaimed the year 2014 – year of corporative yoga. Both managers and employees are faced with stress and everyday tension. The scientific researches conducted last year show that yoga significantly contributes the maintaining of psycho-physical health of employees which directly increases working results (www.yogasavezsrbije.com).

During the period from February 27 till March 2, 2014, in cooperation with the Indian Cultural Center and Embassy of India, the following yoga centers (clubs), members of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, performed at the 36th International Tourism Fair: Art Yoga Similiris – revue team of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, Art Yoga Similiris – revue team of the International Yoga Academy, Yoga Center Mirjana from Novi Sad, Yoga center Tanja from Belgrade, Yoga Center Sunce from Pozarevac, Yoga Center Indjija and Yoga Center Paracin.
LECTURE: Panchatantra, February 16, 2014
Indian Cultural Center and Yoga Federation of Serbia organized the lecture about Panchatantra on Sunday, February 16, 2014. The lecturer was Sanja Drobnjakovic, certified yoga instructor of the Yoga Federation of Serbia. In the presentation participated: Danijela Pendic, Ivana Tosic and Nevena Djukanovic – certified yoga instructors.
The evening started with Moola Mantra nd Gayatri Manstra performed by the Kirtan Group Samadhi from Belgrade.
EVENING OF THE INDIAN POETRY – Rabindranath Tagore, February 1, 2014
Indian Cultural Center and Yoga Federation of Serbia started the cycle of the Evenings of Indian Poetry, on Saturday, February 1, at 19h. This cycle started with the POETRY OF ESSENCE of the great Rabindranath Tagore. The lecture about work of this great poet gave Aleksandra Vuković, and verses were recited by Jelena Vukotić, Jelena Štrbac, Srna Đukić-Spasojević and Maja Štrbac. The evening started by singing Moola Mantra and Gayatri Mantra performed by the Kirtan Group Samadhi.
The Republic Day of India, January 1, 2014
In India, Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.
The Constitution was passed by the Constituent Assembly of India on November 1949 but was adopted on January 26, 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country’s transition toward becoming an independent republic. This date was selected for this purpose because it was this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress. The Republic Day is one of three national holidays in India, other two being Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti. It was the first attempt of India to make its constitution, after the rule of the Great Britain.

Indian Cultural Center in Serbia and Yoga Federation of Serbia organized the lecture “Remembrance of Swami Vivekananda Work”, in the Yoga Federation of Serbia, on his birth date, January 12, 2014 at 18h. The lecture was conducted by Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD with the associates: Jelena Vukotić, Aleksandrom Vuković i Majom Štrbac. The evening started by singing Moola Mantra and Gayatri Mantra performed by the Kirtan Group Samadhi.

Indian theatre
Prof. Milena Dragićević-Šešić presented her new book “Indian Theatre: Tradition and Activism” at the Bitef Theatre, on December 20, 2013. The book is a research diary that was the result of her visit to 15 theatres and theatre troops in India, in 2010. The book represents the analysis of the cultural and social context in which develop a contemporary theatre practices in India. Ambassador of India, Mrs. Narinder Chauhan greeted the audience in the hall of Bitef Theatre.
Art Yoga Similiris, revue team of the Yoga Federation of Serbia at the Belgrade Fair
Members of the revue team Art Yoga Similiris performed at the Holiday Charity Bazaar in the hall 2 of the Belgrade Fair, on Sunday, December 1, 2013. They performed there two choreographies, “Bindu” and “Breath”. Participants were certified yoga teachers, members of the Yoga Federation of Serbia: Aleksandra Vuković, Ana Miletić, Milica Zorić, Marija Šurlan, Nevena Djukanović, Radmila Radomilović, Tatjana Kostanjevec, Vida Starović, Vera Todorović. Representatives of the Yoga Federation of Serbia and Indian Cultural Center helped the realization of the holiday charity activities at the stall of the Embassy of India. There participated: Milica Zorić, Nataša Ignjatović i Nevena Đukanović.
Visit of Sushant Pandey from India
Indian Cultural Center, International Yoga Academy and Yoga Federation of Serbia welcomed yoga teacher and researcher, Sushant Pandey, MA from India, on November 30, 2013. Guest of Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD spent time with the colleagues, certified yoga teachers from Serbia in inspirational conversation, lightening the secrets of yoga, a thousands years old discipline of self-improvement. Prof. Nikic awarded the guest with certificate of the honorary member of Indian Cultural Center in Serbia. Members of the Kirtan Group Samadhi welcomed colleague from India by Gayatri Mantra and Moola Mantra.

Signed the Agreements on Cooperation
On November 12, 2013, President of the Indian Cultural Center, Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD and President of the UNESCO Club at the Sorbonne University in Paris, Aleksandar Protic, signed the Agreement on Cooperation. There was discussed the common participation in the field of culture, science and education.
The same week, there was arranged cooperation and signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of culture with representatives of BELEF Center in Belgrade and Indian Cultural Center in Serbia.
Birth Anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
On the occasion of birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, Embassy of India in Belgrade, in cooperation with the Indian Cultural Center, garlanded the bust of the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on Novembar 14, 2013th at 9:30 am, which is located in the Nehru Street in New Belgrade (in front of the Health Center New Belgrade). Ambassador of India, Mrs. Narinder Čauhan addressed the audience, indicating the greatness of the work of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Indian Cultural Center at the 58th International Belgrade Book Fair, October 20-27, 2013
For the first time, Indian Cultural Center and Embassy of India were presented at the International Belgrade Book Fair. The newly established cultural center presented its plan of activities for 2014 to the visitors which will be full of film, music, visual arts, literary and scene program which will additionally confirm a long time friendship between the two people. There are planned cultural manifestations, scientific-educational, media and business cooperation. The stall has been visited by the Ambassador of India, Mrs. Narinder Chauhan and President of the Indian Cultural Center, Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD. Cultural heritage of India was presented to the visitors of the fair by the Embassy staff, representatives of the International Yoga Academy, Yoga Federation of Serbia and Indian Cultural Center in Serbia.
Visit of the Ambassador of India to the International Yoga Academy
On October 19, 2013, Ambassador of India in Belgrade, Mrs. Narinder Chauhan visited the International Yoga Academy and addressed and greeted the new generation of students. Yoga Federation of Serbia and International Yoga Academy in Belgrade conduct program of the yoga teachers professional training that is accredited in the competent Ministry of RS.
Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday – International Day of Nonviolence
On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NONVIOLENCE on Wednesday, the 2nd October 2013, a function was held at 10:00 hrs at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi located at Sava River Quay, at the end of Gandhi Street, New Belgrade.
Representatives of the institutions and citizens gathered for garlanding of the bust of Mahatma Gandhi by Ambassador of India, Indian Cultural Center and Vice-President of the Municipality New Belgrade, observation of one minute silence and singing of the hymn.
As part of Mahatma Gandhi birthday celebration and his contribution to the humanity, Prof. Dusan Pajin, PhD held the lecture in the Cultural Center Students’ Town, New Belgrade, on September 25, 2013. On the same occasion, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, organized presentation of the movie about Gandhi’s life and work at the FPS.
Announcement of the Indian Cultural Center in the residence of the Ambassador of India
Announcement of the Indian Cultural Center was held at the residence of Her Excellency Ambassador of India, Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, on September 27, 2013 at 18:30 hrs.
The Indian Cultural Center will work on introduction and convergence of the cultural wealth of the two nations, in the spirit of understanding and respect for diversity of the cultural heritage of India and Serbia. The Indian Cultural Center will also work on intensifying cooperation in the field of education, science, art, sports and media.
Offices of the ICC are in Nehruova Str. in New Belgrade and space for the activities in the center of old Belgrade is to be prepared.

Opening of the Festival of Indian Film in Belgrade, September 17-22, 2013
Embassy of India in Belgrade, in cooperation with the Museum of Yugoslav Film Archive (Kinoteka) organized the Festival of Indian Film “100 Years of the Indian Film” that took place on September 17-22, 2013 in the new building of Kinoteka in Belgrade.
Celebration of the Independence Day of India
On August 15, 2013, Embassy of India organized the reception on the occasion of the national holiday of India, Independence Day, in the Hotel Hayatt Regency. This year, India celebrates 66 years of independence. The newly appointed Ambassador of India, Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, was presented to the guests.
At the reception, there were representatives of the Yoga Federation of Serbia, International Yoga Academy, International Society for Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Research, as well as representatives of the other relevant institutions and prominent individuals from social and public walks of life.
THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL YOGA FESTIVAL – SERBIA 2013
The fourth international yoga festival – serbia 2013 was opened by Ambassador of India to Serbia in Belgrade, Mrs. Narinder Chauhan and Prof. Predrag Nikic, PhD, President of the Yoga Federation of Serbia. Festival was held on August 31 – September 1, 2013 at Belgrade’s Ada and organized by the Yoga Federation of Serbia, International Yoga Academy and International Society for Scientific Interdisciplinary Yoga Research, with patronage of the International, European and American Yoga Federation. Yoga Masters and yoga teachers from around the world and from Serbia met at the International Yoga Festival in Belgrade and presented different styles and approaches to yoga practice. In the spirit of recognition, understanding and respect for differences, many yoga schools presented their activities.
